Recently the USCG released a Public Safety Video in collaboration with the Boston Pilots, State Pilots, and the Mass Bay Harbor Safety Committee.  U.S. Coast Guard LCDR Jessica Hull, the Chief of the Waterways Management Branch at Coast Guard Sector Boston, and Capt. Bob Blair, a Commissioned State Ship Pilot in Massachusetts Pilot District Two, speak about safe vessel operation around deep draft vessels.  The video was created as a presentation for the National Harbor Safety Conference.

Starting April 01, 2026 any one who operates a motorized vessel in Massachusetts waters is required to complete a Massachusetts Approved* Boaters Safety Course.  THis 4:45 minute video provides an overview and background on the legislation. 

The American Waterways Operators and the National Safe Boating Council have partnered to create a video educating recreational boaters on how to safely interact with commercial vessels on the water.
